Are You Going Through Skincare Product Overload?

When I woke up this morning, I had so many bottles on my bathroom counter that I felt overwhelmed. Most of us already know that good skin care involves more than just washing your face, but once you get past exfoliators and moisturizers, it can be pretty confusing and overwhelming.

There are so many types of products out there and there’s no easy way to have the right routine for yourself if you don’t even know what these products do.Here are the different products that consumers use:

  • Cleanser  - It's important to cleanse the face twice daily to get bacteria, dirt, and pollutants off your skin.

  • Exfoliator - Exfoliation is important because it helps remove dead skin cells off the surface of the skin and to give your skin a glow. This should be done once or twice a week.

  • Serum - Serums usually contain antioxidants which help fight the signs of aging.  Because they penetrate deep into the skin, they are great for hydrating dry skin.

  • Face oil - They help build a resilient layer for your skin no matter what your skin type. They can be very hydrating, which is very good for dry skin.

  • Sunscreen - They are essential for protecting your skin from UV damage, no matter what the season.

  • Moisturizer - Moisturizers help your skin to look and feel younger. You should moisturize from head to toe.

  • Chemical Peel - They remove the outer layer of the skin, which means they tend to go deeper than exfoliators to remove excess dead skin cells. They usually contain glycolic, salicylic or lactic acids.

  • Toner - Toners are used after cleansing twice a day to remove excess traces of makeup or other residues from the skin.

  • Face Mask - There are different types of masks on the market, ranging from hydrating to drying and brightening, which makes them useful for all skin types.

  • Eye Cream - They tend to be formulated for the specific eye area issues such as puffiness, wrinkles and dark eye circles.

Even the best and most expensive products can actually cause skin irritation if you use too many products. There are a lot of skin junkies that are always on the lookout for the next must-have products. It’s hard to stop. It can be very addicting. There are times that I find myself putting on so many different serums, moisturizers, B.B. creams and sunscreens. I just can’t seem to be satisfied with using just one product. I guess I’m not alone in wanting to use all of these so-called miracle products. Many women don’t realize that layering on too many products can be the cause of more skin problems such as redness, itchiness, dry skin, etc. This will only cause you to have extra trips to the dermatologist.

Women are always on the lookout for the next “miracle” skincare products. Most, if not all of them, can actually break your bank. They are too expensive and out of reach of most consumers. With the market being flooded with all sorts of products from France, Italy and lately South Korea, it makes it more confusing to choose which is the best product to use for your skin type.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there is one product that can solve all our skincare problem in just one bottle? A simple routine that is both effective and inexpensive. A product that actually takes care of all our skincare needs. A product that moisturizes, hydrates and removes all the signs of aging. A product that multitasks for you is key to any good skincare regimen.
